2025 PICK UP COLLECTION SCHEDULE
Only Cottleville issued containers can be used for pickup - no privately owned containers due to liability issues.
City containers must be at the curb by 6:30 am on the day of collection with the lid opening facing the street; avoid overfilling your container or leaving the lid open more than 12 inches. All trash and recyclables must be inside the correct container. Containers need to be placed 4 feet from any obstruction, i.e., mailboxes, parked vehicles, basketball hoops, etc., to prevent damage from the automated collection arm.
Dirt and rocks are classified as solid waste items. These items interfere with the yard waste machinery. Please put these items in your solid waste container for collection.
Yard waste must be placed in City issued brown yard waste container(s) for curbside collection with the lid closed. Please remember brown carts are for yard waste only:
- Grass Clippings
- Leaves
- Tree Limbs up to 3 Feet Long
- Weeds
- Garden Waste
If it does not grow in your yard, it does not belong in your Brown Cart.
*ONLY leaves may be placed in brown paper lawn bags for collection during; March, October, November, December.
- Last Day of yard waste collection is the last week of January.
- Yard waste collection resumes the first week of March.
- Brown paper lawn bags, filled with only leaves, will be collected in March, October, November, and December.
- A maximum of 20 brown leaf bags per collection day.
*If you live in a subdivison and your grounds are maintained by your HOA but you have brown paper leaf bags to dispose of, please contact the solid waste department to schedule your yard waste collection.
Additional yard waste can be dropped off at the Earth Center, located at 115 Ecology Drive in St. Peters, don't forget your Resident Privilege Card. Resident Privilege Cards can be obtained at the Recycle City administration office located at 115 Ecology Drive in St. Peters.

Special Instructions For Disposing Certain Items:
Real Christmas trees - Tree(s) must be completeley bare of ALL decorations.
Remove All: tinsel, lights, ornaments, decorations, bows, ribbon, tree stands, and plastic bags prior to drop off. *To ensure Christmas tree disposal, the tree must be completely bare. If the incoming material has a potential for contamination or permit violation, service will be refused.
Curbside Christmas tree collection:
Curbside collection is on your scheduled yard waste day. Cut the tree into smaller pieces to fit inside your City's brown yard waste cart. Place your yard waste cart at your curb by 6:30 a.m. on your yard waste collection day. Remove All: tinsel, lights, ornaments, decorations, bows, ribbon, tree stands, and plastic bags prior to collection.

December 26 - January 31 - The St. Peters Earth Centre will take real Christmas trees during regular Earth Centre hours.
Paint cans - Paint needs to be dry. Use a clay based cat litter, sawdust, or sand; mix by stirring, and let the paint dry. Leave the paint lid off and place the dry paint can inside the solid waste can.
Styrofoam peanuts - Styrofoam peanuts need to be placed inside a tied bag. Please no loose peanuts.
Sharps (hypodermic needles and syringes) - Avoid recapping needles. Place used needles directly in a heavy-duty, puncture resistant container, such as a plastic detergent bottle or an empty bleach bottle. Place one teaspoon of bleach in the container. Screw the lid tightly closed and secure the lid using heavy-duty tape. Write "Medical Waste" in permanent ink. Dispose in trash - not with recyclables. NEVER USE A GLASS CONTAINER FOR NEEDLE DISPOSAL!
Cooking grease - Cooking grease must be in solid form. The solid form needs to be in a sealed container and then placed inside the solid waste can.
Cooking oil - Cooking oil is in liquid form and CAN NOT be placed inside the solid waste can. For assistance, contact Recycle City.
Motor oil - Motor oil CANNOT be placed inside the solid waste can. It can be disposed of at Recycle City.
Tires - Tires can be disposed of at a dealership or retailer who sells tires. They may charge a fee.
Household hazardous and/or chemical waste can be disposed at
St. Charles County Recycle Works.
